Day 63: Untie Your Style

Spend 0.001 seconds with me and you’ll know that fashion isn’t really my thing.  That’s sort of why it isn’t my thing – because I’ve never been much for the notion that the clothes make the man.  Still, even I have to give credit to those who are able to find ways of expressing their identity through what they wear.  If you’re going to put time and effort into the way you dress, I think you really ought to come away with something that’s uniquely you.  That way, when people do judge you for the way you look, they’re at least working with a better picture.  I think today’s project is painting a much more distinct picture than most other fashion accessory.

Nicholas Tee Ruiz has been rethinking an accessory that’s faded from the limelight for no good reason: the bow tie.  He’s developed a line of bow ties that are likely to say more about you than anything else you put on; helping you tell the world who you are, without ever having to say a word.  With ties like these, the clothes really do speak volumes.

Why bow ties?

Because who doesn’t love a bow tie!  You can’t help but give a little grin when you see one, and putting one on, well that’s just an even more stupendous feeling.  Every single penny of your donation will go directly towards helping me start my bow tie start-up.

All of these ties tell an interesting and different story.  They’re sure to be the only one of their kind at your shindig, and are all made from recycled or up-cycled materials.  Guitar picks, LEGOs, film…things that say more about the man than any old ribbon ever could – they’re another tool to help you express all that makes you you.  If nothing else, they’re a great conversation starter – ideally conversations that will reveal everything else there is to know about you, that you clothes aren’t saying.

So ditch your normal neckwear and check out the Modern Bow Tie collection on Kickstarter before April 20.
