Day 2: Lighting the Way

January 2, 2012 by Alex Hoekstra

Day two of 2012, and I again found myself struggling to identify a single worthy project. There’s an over-abundance of inspiration and creativity on Kickstarter, and to identify a single project per day is proving itself to be a daunting task. Still, I’m proud to have pulled it off yet again after having discovered WakaWaka – a name that might not immediately convey how great of an idea it represents. Check it out and you’ll understand why:

It’s these sort of innovations that I see changing the world. It’s an honor to have helped this one come to life. As of this writing, they’ve already met their funding goal, but that’s not to say that a little extra won’t be put to tremendously good use. All additional funds will be used for the development of the next evolution of the WakaWaka, which is intended to serve as a broadly-applicable cell phone charger. That sounds like another project worth backing to me, but until then, getting the WakaWaka Light in the hands of those with little more than kerosine lamps to light their nights is a dandy way to use a dollar or two.

Day two draws to a close and I’m looking forward to finding tomorrow’s dream.  If you know of any project(s) that stands out to you as something incredible, wonderful, inspiring, etc., leave a comment, send a message (email or facebook) and let me and the rest of the world know who, what and why.
